ITINERARY
PROGRAM
After a long cycle of drought, this rainy spring has returned to La Mancha Húmeda in all its splendor: the vegetation sprouts strongly, the birds have arrived in great numbers and diversity to the lagoon, and the landscapes are lush green preparing for an incredibly spectacular month of May as has not been seen in recent years. What better chance to celebrate the way back to normal!
In this birds and landscapes photography workshop, we will combine landscape photography with photography from hides to illustrate the Manchega spring in the most intimate way. Ruddy Ducks and Black-necked Grebes photographed from the water, cereal fields, and mills in fantastic and well-planned locations, water, and dryland… a contrast of experiences and emotions that will allow us to gather a spectacular set of images in this vital moment of spring.
During the first days of the birds and landscapes photography workshop, we will take advantage of the first and last lights of the day to photograph the setting and exit of the full moon, choosing the best protagonists for the foreground: the windmills of Don Quixote, castles and traditional country constructions, mosaics of crops and groves… These experiences with the Manchego landscape will give way to days focused on wildlife photography from the hide, taking advantage of the exceptional moment of the lagoon to exploit the possibilities of hydro hide with an incredible diversity of species of enormous appeal. And throughout this process, our photographer will guide us with practical tips that will combine planning, technique, and composition, along with great moments.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT
- SLR camera, without mirror or compact combined with: a wide-angle optics(e.g.,a 14-24 mm),a mediumoptics (e.g.a 24-70 mm) and a short TVfor details(e.g.a 70-200 mm); and for captures of the Moon, the Sun and possible wildlife shots, a more powerful telephoto lens, with a greater focal length (200 mm onwards).
- Filters – For long exposures it is recommended to use neutral density filters. Gradients can also be useful for compensating for differences in luminosity between the sky and the relief. The polarizing filter is indispensable for landscape photography.
- tripod.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
The end of May on the Manchega plain is usually a time of cool mornings and days of pleasant temperatures, even warm at noon. For the birds and landscapes photography workshop, it is advisable to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, a jacket for mornings but spring clothes for the rest of the day. A cap and sunscreen is equally useful. No special equipment will be necessary for the water-linked activity, as everything necessary will be provided at the lagoon. As for the photography equipment, a final review of your camera bag is always advised before departure to ensure that there is no shortage of spare batteries, sufficient memory cards, computer or portable memories to download the images at the end of the day, chargers, etc.
COVID-19 PREVENTION MEASURES
Prior to confirmation of the reservation, the COVID-19 contagion prevention protocol developed and implemented in its activities will be provided. This protocol must be validated by all participants who are required to make a commitment to their compliance.
Understanding the importance of following the prevention recommendations, it should be noted that we are participating in an outdoor activity (even if photo hides are used) and in very small groups, with a low probability of contagion. For added safety, we have also extreme hygiene and disinfecting measures for vehicles and all types of installations.
In any case, all measures and restrictions recommended by the health authorities during the workshop dates will be addressed.
